Eggs, cleaning, time running out, DH's graduation tomorrow, cleaning, cooking, cleaning, praying that everything goes without a hitch. This is my life until tomorrow evening.
I realized this morning that I have retained yet another quirk belonging to my mother. I remember when I was young that every time she expected company to come she would go into a cooking and cleaning frenzy until the very moment that they pulled into the driveway. I remember thinking that she had to be crazy... our house wasn't spotless all the time, but it was always clean with just the right balance of livability. Yet, let someone be coming for lunch or dinner on a particular day of the week or let some out of town guest come for a visit and the frenzy would begin at nearly the moment the phone reciever hit the cradle. "We've got to get this house ready," she would say, and no knicknack would go unturned until each speck of dust was removed. So as I sit here typing, I remember those days while the list of things I have to get done before lunchtime tomorrow plays like a broken record in my head telling me that I too need to get my house ready. Maybe I'm a little crazy too.
