This week's Fun Monday is hosted by Aoj and the Lurchers and our assignment this week is...
Show me your favourite photograph and tell me why it's your favourite.
It can be one you've taken yourself or one someone else has taken, a snapshot or a more professional image. Is there a story behind it? Do you love it for the memories it gives or just because it's pleasing to the eye?
Show me and tell me!
This may not be the best picture, I don't like that I've got my tongue stuck out, I don't like that I'm not looking my best, I don't like that one brother has a beer in his hand, I don't like that the other is holding his cigarettes, I don't like the lighting, I don't like the fact that we have a little bit of a strange hue to us... BUT... This is one of my favorite photos nonetheless.
On this day, Brother One (on the right) had come to visit, Brother Two (On the left) wanted us all to DO Something together, so we and our families went fishing. Just the "Sibs", spouses and kids at a friend's pond to catch "Grandaddy Cat". This picture definitely shows what kind of day it was. We had a Blast Together! Brother Two actually had a hook in what he thought was "Grandaddy Cat" and lost his rod and reel to him... I actually cast across his line and was able to bring the rod to shore where he ended up pulling this big hanking catfish in.
Little did we know that this was to be our last outing together. Four months later Brother Two passed away from his battle with lung cancer. When I think of "Me and My Brothers" this is the time I reminisce about and feel happy about having had the pleasure of having them both for the time I did, and that we got the chance to cut loose that one last time.

The picture itself doesn't always have to be perfect to be a favorite, it's what the picture represents or the memories it invokes that make a favorite. For that it is a great picture itself.
It is good to remember the good times. And all of you looked happy that day. But what was you doing with your mouth? I know, yelling at hubby....Take the damm picture already.....
I tried to comment last night. Blogger! rrrrrrrrrr
Oh Jenn, I am so glad that you have a photo to keep the memories of that day fresh in your mind. I am so sorry that you lost your brother to cancer. Girl, I DESPISE that disease.
Y'all do look like one big happy family in your photo - even with all the things that you don't like about it.
Do you bait your own hook when you fish?
Jen
OH! And thank you for the encouragement to my kiddo. Things didn't go great this morning and I can't wait to see him this afternoon.
It's a mind thing, you know? If he can just overcome what is in his mind about school - fear, nervousness, etc. - he won't get sick and he won't be so miserable.
Time too. He needs a little more time.
Love you!
Jen
